SURFER DIES AFTER CONTRACTING BRAIN EATING AMOEBA
Fabrizio Stabile, died on September 21st, after contracting Naegleria fowleri, known as “brain-eating amoeba”, shortly after visiting a wave pool. Link to GoFundMe
The wave pool is classified as a lake not a swimming pool and therefore doesn’t, or at least didn’t, have to comply to the same standards as a public pool
Signs and symptoms of naegleria infection may include:
A change in the sense of smell or taste
Sudden, severe headache
Sensitivity to light
Nausea and vomiting
Loss of balance
Hurricane Rosa sent epic surf to Northern Baja and Southern California.
