BASSY’S WOODEN SLED

View this post on Instagram

Psyched on this forward thinking wooden Sanford Shapes. This board is a bit of an experiment for us. Dave Rastovich rode a board that had no fiberglass on it, was completely wood on water- nothing between the board and the water. The images that follow are by Jeff Divine of Dave Rastovich riding that entirely wooden surfboard with no fiberglass just wood and some varnish. These were taken on a trip we took back in 2003. This Sanford Shapes board is similar, it’s just wood with a little bit of oil /varnish; no fiberglass on the deck or the bottom. Like the ancient Polynesians, this board is Koa and Paulonia- all wood on water. A shout out to Jon Wegener for the eco-friendly varnish tip. Board weighs in at 7.2 lbs. All that is needed is some surf to take this board through the paces. @sanfordshapes @jonwegenersurfboards @jeffdivinephotographer
