Aloha Scott and David,
I wanted to give some insight into the vaccine roll out in Japan. I spoke with some friends there a few weeks ago on the state of vaccines a teenager said his grandma had just been vaccinated. My other friend in his thirties got pushed to the front of the line because he is a school teacher. I asked him why the process was so slow, he said that Japan must run their own efficacy tests on all foreign medicines before they can be administered in Japan. Then they had another delay in not having the correct needles and also they don’t have enough doctors to give the injections based on the huge population. To put it to scale, Japan has roughly one third the population of the United States and all their islands can fit in the state of California.
I hope this helps.
