Today’s episode is with Dr. Aaron James. A Harvard PhD, professor and chair of philosophy at UC Irvine, James is a lifelong surfer and the author of the new book “Surfing With Sartre: An Aquatic Inquiry Into A Life of Meaning”. The book examines our current era of leisure, the value of centering one’s life around the sublime and the beautiful, and how attunment positions one to best enjoy life. He talks about being burned by Andy Irons at Lowers and about how climate change will change our favorite surf spots. This conversation goes deep and wide. I hope you enjoy.
