In today’s episode we catch up with surfboard shaper Josh Martin. Josh is carrying on a family legacy of shaping, started by his father Terry Martin and uncle Mickey Munoz. Terry is credited as having shaped more surfboards than any other human (estimated around 80,000) and built boards for Gerry Lopez, Wayne Bartholomew, Shaun Tomson, and was the house shaper at Hobie Surfboards for nearly 4 decades. Josh opens up about his father’s influence, the importance of upcycling surfite, how to woo a life partner, how build an Instagram audience, and why stringers are useless in surfboards (according to Mickey Munoz). Enjoy!
