DUKE
Scott’s Pick: Tom Brady
David’s Pick:
Bill Delaney the producer director of Free Ride, passed away on February 11th, 2019 at age 72.
“The film captured tuberiding so that the audience could really experience it for the first time,” says Shaun Tomson. In other films, “the camera was more of an observer. In Free Ride the slow-motion water photography put you inside the tube with the surfer.”
“Bill looked at surfing from a different point of view,” says Tomson, whose starring role in Free Ride helped define his career. “He wanted to capture the spirit of friendship, of challenge, travel, courage, and youthful dreams. Not just what was going on during that period right before the whole pro scene got started.”
KOOK
