My friend Michael Benedict went a long surf trip.

Many of us, if not all of us, have gone on a surf trip; Mentawais, or Costa rica or Morocco or Hawaii. Where ever it was, it was a leisurely trip based on our love of riding waves. Basically a surf vacation.

But what Michael Benedict did was different. He went on a pilgrimage — a surf pilgrimage. A Quest. A long, relatively undefined expedition. His final destination wass known but the journey in-between, the trek from spot a to spot b, the beginning and the end, this portion of his journey fell at his discretion based on various seen and unforeseen factors such as swell, wind, and also social, political and economic forces.

What if I told you that you, the listener, thay you should get in your truck, by yourself, load a few surfboards and rudimentary camping essentials and drive to the southern most tip of South America — spending as much time as you need.

Could you do it? Would you want to do it? Should you do it?

What would you find? What is stopping you from the trip of lifetime besides life itself?
