174 – Wax On: Dave Parmenter

Play

We are thrilled to welcome back former guest Dave Parmenter. He first appeared in episode 101 of Surf Splendor where we outlined his biography. A former pro surfer, a surf writer, historian, and boardbuilder, Surfing Magazine once described Parmenter as “the most interesting surfing in the world.” In today’s show Dave explains how “old” surfboard designs are more advanced than many modern designs, why he doesn’t read surf mags nor watch surf films, and why he’s spending most of his watertime miles off the coast. Enjoy the show!

    Greetings Dave,
I am digging the new, (old) format Spit, Wax On , Grit, Shaping Surfing, all killer content. I just finished your interview with Dave Parmenter and was moved to comment, there were so many thought provoking points like a solid NW swell of topics. My mind has been opened a bit to see other ways of surfing through the patterns and bumps of everyday life especially as I get older. A big shout out to you for keeping your commitment to pumping out more quality content on a consistent basis. May be Kelly will have some time for an interview during his recovery ;). I am headed over to paypal to set up a monthly payment !
    Cheers,
    Adam
